Promoting Risk Intervention by Situational Management

PRISM: Promoting Risk Intervention by Situational Management (Johnstone & Cooke, 2008) has been developed to facilitate the systematic evaluation of situational risk factors that have been shown to influence levels of institutional violence. PRISM is a risk assessment that focuses on risk factors in the institution instead of risk factors in the individual patient or prisoner.

The primary tenet behind the PRISM approach is that situational risk factors can trigger and/or maintain a series of risk processes that influence the psychological climate of an institution which can, in turn, impact upon the level of violence observed.
